Getting Certified For Oral Conscious And IV Sedation – Why It Matters To Patients

Dental anxiety is one of the biggest roadblocks that prevents patients from getting the dental care they need for a healthy smile, and it’s more common than you may think. According to one study, up to 50-80% of dental patients experience some level of dental anxiety. Nitrous oxide sedation is a great starting point, and can help many patients deal with their dental anxiety and get the dental care they need without fear or discomfort.

Still, some patients with severe dental anxiety may be very nervous about getting the dental care they need due to past dental trauma, bad experiences with other dentists, or fear of potential pain and discomfort during their treatment. This is especially true if a patient needs a more complex dental procedure, like a dental implant or an extraction. Nitrous sedation alone may not be enough to make your patients feel safe and comfortable while they get the care they need at your office.

Getting certified to provide oral conscious sedation or IV sedation can help you break down this barrier, and ensure your patients get the care they need. By offering deeper levels of sedation at your office, you can manage dental anxiety in your patients more effectively, provide them with pain-free treatment, and ensure that they have a positive experience at your practice.
