Implant Pathway Faculty

Dr. Matthew Calkins grew up in Utah and Colorado. He always had a love for Legos as a kid and spent many hours building and rebuilding them. The perceptual abilities and hand skills would one day be an asset in his career. At age 12 Matt broke one of his front teeth in half during a skateboarding accident. Dentistry allowed him to get his smile back and live a more normal life than what might have been. Matt attended BYU-Idaho where he met his lifelong best friend and spouse Kandace Calkins. During college he began shadowing dentists and quickly became excited as he saw himself doing their procedures with a strong personal sense he would excel at patient care as well as clinical skills. He went on to graduate from Creighton Dental School, a top school with no specialties, allowing him to place his first implants in dental school. After graduation he went on to work and eventually be the sole owner of Sandcreek Dental, a dental clinic in the small town of a Glendive, MT which is very close to where his wife Kandace grew up. Matt has 4 kids and enjoys going on hikes, playing guitar, skiing with his children and mountain biking.
