The symposium began with familiar faces and electric energy. Reconnecting with past alumni is one of the best parts of the conference, and it’s kind of the whole point! We love seeing the bright smiles on people’s faces when they see their old friends. We have a great CE program with exceptional speakers, but the relationships make it a truly special event. Dr. Moody believes that discovering CE buddies whom you can go to events, conferences, and classes with builds a foundation for success.
Our symposium is always held in lively, bright Arizona. This year we chose to host it at Talking Stick Casino in Scottsdale. All 200 attendees loved the energy of the location because it had something for everyone — a casino filled with incredible slot machines, glorious card games, a pool that made us feel like we were at a tropical resort, a spa, and a golf course. People got to build connections, improve their craft, and win big while doing it. The location was incredibly dynamic and we plan to continue hosting future conferences at all of the hot spots in Arizona.
The first night, we hosted a happy hour for our guests. The casino was filled with people buzzing after a strenuous but rewarding day of education. These are the moments that made our symposium so special — moments with people that are going through the same crazy challenges that only the dental community understands.
But a major highlight was the bull riding event! Yep, you read that right. We went on a mini excursion on a double-decker bus (drinks included!) and arrived at a western bar. During the event, they allowed us to choose one person from our group to ride a bull. Not a mechanical bull — a living, breathing, seeing-red bull. We, of course, knew John, our media production specialist, would be the perfect person to do this. And he lasted an impressive 1.8 seconds.
The event was truly unique, and it was inspiring to see attendees reinforce previous connections, meet new people, and strengthen their skills for a surgery that can transform people’s lives. We saw doctors with different levels of experience taking away new knowledge. Learning a new surgery can be nerve-wracking, but in an environment that celebrates connections, learning, and simply being yourself, it really takes the edge off.
Besides having a blast, we hope the biggest take away from the symposium is the thorough information attendees get from true experts in the industry. Our goal is for doctors to learn something new, gain lasting knowledge, and most importantly, have fun.
For the next symposium, we plan to cultivate the same energy and excitement that we brought this year. That means more amazing speakers, education, connections, and thrilling events! Shout out to Jon Mcnew from Proceed Finance — who claimed, completely sober, he would ride the bull at the 2023 symposium. We’ll see if he beats John’s record time!
