The gentle splash of water can evoke memories of quiet times along the side of a fresh brook, of a gentle waterfall with a small pool of crystal clear water. The feel of the warm sun, the wondrous fragrance of damp moss and ferns and the song of birds happy to have a secure place to take a quick bath make us feel safe and welcome.
Waterfalls also reflect the ever-changing flow of life - where people's lives and world events continue to stream towards us, then collect at our feet and, finally, flow away to make room for new ones. Sometimes we are splashed by these events and it may chill us and make us unhappy or uncomfortable, or it may refresh us and be pleasing.
To bring a little bit of this wondrous stream into our lives each day, we have table-top waterfalls in our office and home. Each one has special stones collected from our visits around the world strategically placed, along with tiny creatures made of glass and porcelain representing very personal thoughts and ideas.
