Dancing Water Meditation Bowl

Bronze bowls like this
one have been found in China that date back to the 5th century B.C.
When filled with water and when the handles are rubbed in just the
right way, the bowl will sing in a low-pitched tone, and with
practice, you can also obtain a high-pitched tone. These sound
vibrations, in turn, disturb the surface of the water so it shoots
up in spouts. Wonderful patterns are created, some appear to be like
those in the Mer-Ka-Ba!
The act of slowly
rubbing the handles to maintain the pitch while watching the water
make patterns and dance helps to focus in a meditative way. If you
really, really concentrate, it is possible to generate both the low
and the high tone at the same time, a fantastic sound and visual
show. We have one in our home that visitors just have to try once
they've heard it sing.

There are beautiful
patterns embossed all around the inside of the bowl. There are four
dragons on the bottom, and when the water dances, they seem to be
spitting. Cast in bronze to last many lifetimes, 15" in diameter,
4.25" high.
We include a non-skid base pad, a paper with photos showing
the hand positions, and a CD or cassette (your choice) giving
instruction on use and sounds of the bowl singing in its multiple
voices! |
