About the Author:
J. Woodrow Sayre, Ph.D. was an educator, economist, author. He was employed thirty years as a teacher; after retirement worked another twenty years as president of non-profit organizations. He had been a businessman, an elementary school principal, secondary school teacher, a professor at Cornell University, the University of Syracuse, and State University of NY. at Albany. For a decade, while teaching, he was Executive Director of the New York State Council on Economic Education.For many years Professor Sayre served as consultant to local Boards of Education, New York State Department of Education, New York State Senate Taxation Committee and the U.S. Department of Education. He had written textbooks and pamphlets used in both high schools and universities. During the '60's and '70's he was listed in eight different Who's Who.
After retirement from payrolls, Professor Sayre had been CEO of World Affiliated Services, the Jacksonville Opera Society, the Environmental Education Research Council of N.E. Florida, and the Sathya Sai Baba Center of Jacksonville. Still in the process of creating, helping, and teaching, Prof. Sayre died at age 95, leaving his wife Selma Sayre, a writer, in Flagler Beach, Florida.
